First year of production: Lamina started its activity in Milan at its current premises in via Rho, under the direction of Alessandro and Alla Sanmarchi.
The production of carbon steels was initially oriented towards the supply of high-precision tapes for the manufacture of razor blades. As a result, our strong high-precision mentality was born from the very beginning in order to meet the demand for special materials destined to particular applications.
In the following years the production range was expanded, introducing further grades of carbon steels, such as micro-alloyed steels.
In the 60s and 70s the sons Serena and Roberto took over the company.
Since the early 70s, although maintaining the traditional carbon steel production intended for the domestic market, with the arrival of the Sendzimir rolling mill, Lamina’s production was radically transformed, being oriented towards the innovative production of roll hardened stainless steels, used for industrial springs manufacturing
The installation of the Ebner annealing furnace allowed the range of qualities produced to be implemented with the addition of thin Titanium strips and foils.
The purchase of the Redex tension-leveller, the first in Italy, and the continuous development of the slitting lines, led to the current strong specialization in precision strips, which still distinguish the production of Lamina today.
At the end of the 90s, engineer Paolo, representative of the third generation, joined the company, alongside Ing. Roberto.
The fleet of slitting lines is renewed with the addition of the second Samo slitting line.
Thanks to the development of the German market and then the expansion into other European countries, exports reach 50% of production. Furthermore, since the early 2000s the company has opened up to a difficult and demanding market such as that of the United States.
If from a technical point of view the company continues to expand its machine park, through the installation of a new Julius edgebanding device for the production of round edges, the attention to market developments and the most particular needs of customers leads to the choice of including deep-stamped titanium in the product portfolio.
The commercial area is implemented with the hiring of new internal resources and with the expansion of the network of agents, in order to strengthen the presence both in Italy and abroad.
The historic D7 edgebanding line is the subject of a major revamping, while in 2023 a new Studer grinding device for rolling rolls will be installed. This new machine, of great quality, allows the grinding of cylinders with tolerances of fractions of microns on the diameter, which translates into the possibility of obtaining very high precision in the rolling of the strips.
